Sierra Canyon Day Camp

Heartsaver AED

The Heartsaver AED program targets all lay responders, such as teachers, firefighters, police, commercial airline crews, security personnel, and employees in the workplace who require a course-completion card. Students will learn to recognize the signs of four major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction. These responders learn Adult/Child CPR, hands-on practice scenarios with an AED, relief of choking in adults and children, and the use of barrier devices. The infant segment remains an optional module.

Traditional course length: 3 hours (add ½ hour for infant CPR)
E-learning course length: 1 hour skill check

CPR for Family and Friends

This course is designed for parents, school children, and members of the community who want to learn CPR. The Family and Friends program will teach participants how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants. The pediatric segment covers an overview of childhood safety. The Adult/Child CPR segment includes the chain of survival, signs of heart attack and stroke, and healthy heart living. This program is not designed for participants who are required to attend a CPR course for the workplace or a certification.

We offer this program with infant CPR and safety as an option.
Course Length: 2 hours for Adult/Child CPR
Add 1  hours for Infant CPR and Safety

First Aid

Heartsaver First Aid

The Heartsaver First Aid course instructs how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes while waiting for further professional help to arrive. It is designed for those who have a responsibility to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities.

The course modules include:
General Principles, Medical Emergencies, Injury and Environmental Emergencies.
Course Length: 3 hours
E-learning and skill check available and reduces time to 1 hour

Optional segments are:
Adult/Child CPR (add 1 ½ hours)
Adult/Child AED (add 1 hour)
Infant CPR (add ½ hour)

Spanish-speaking programs are available.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid

The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child until professional help arrives. Topics include first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, environmental emergencies, and asthma care training. This program is designed for those involved in the care of children and have the responsibility to respond to a first aid emergency. Childcare workers, teachers, foster parents, camp counselors, and coaches for youth sports programs are candidates for this course model.

Course Length: 6 hours which includes Infant/Child/Adult CPR
E-learning and skill check available and reduces time to 2 hours.

Community Courses – Learning Skill Check

For Workplace Training
This is a web-based learning program that you can do at the convenience of your home or office.

Part 1
Part 1 is the online cognitive lesson. You can register at elearning.heart.org for Heartsaver First Aid, Heartsaver CPR AED, or a combination of First Aid and CPR AED. The course fee is payable directly on the website. You can log on and off this site until your course is complete — check the website for all course completion requirements.

Parts 2 and 3
Schedule an appointment with Child and Parent Resources for Hands-on Skill Practice & Testing. Your CPR card will be issued on-site once you demonstrate skill completion requirements. An additional cost will apply for the in-person portion.
