Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider Initial Course

This program is designed for healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, physician assistants, EMTs, respiratory therapists, and other health professionals. The program covers the chain of survival, coronary artery disease, recognition of heart attack and stroke, adult one-rescuer CPR with mouth-to-mask barriers and bag-valve-mask, two-rescuer CPR, child and infant CPR, adult and pediatric foreign body airway management, barrier devices, bag-mask ventilation, and AED training. A course completion card is issued for all participants in a BLS for Healthcare Provider course who successfully complete the written examination and skill demonstration.

Course Length: Initial 4 hours

Basic Life Support Instructor Course

This course is structured to teach instructor candidates the knowledge and skills needed for the education and evaluation of participants at all levels of Basic Life Support training, including Automated External Defibrillation. Contact us for further information.

Healthcare – E-Learning Skill Check

This is a web-based learning program that you can do at the convenience of your home or office.

Part 1
Part 1 is the online cognitive lesson. When registering at elearning.heart.org, the course fee is payable directly on the website. You can log on and off this site until your course is complete — check the website for all course completion requirements.

Parts 2 and 3
Schedule an appointment with Child and Parent Resources for Hands-on Skill Practice & Testing. Your CPR card will be issued on-site once you demonstrate skill completion requirements. An additional cost will apply.
